Disrupting Peace

Client: World Peace Foundation

The Show: Disrupting Peace explores why peace hasn’t worked, and how it still could. In each episode, Bridget Conley, research director at the World Peace Foundation, speaks with a researcher specializing in one obstacle to peace, and an activist who’s changing systems from the ground up. Together they explore what worked, what didn’t, and why we shouldn’t give up.

The Opportunity

The World Peace Foundation, established 1910, was looking to expand their audience, diversify how they got their ideas out, and create a more compelling and relatable show than other podcasts in the peace and conflict space.

They had a few ideas, but needed help evaluating these ideas, and moving from concept to production.

The Process

I guided the WPF through a strategic creative development process. We identified the organization’s unique goals, strengths, and brand - and assessed competitive podcasts - in order to create a blueprint for the show. Our outcome was Disrupting Peace: a show about why “peace” hasn’t worked, and how it still could.

Throughout production, I worked closely WPF Director of Research, and host of Disrupting Peace, Bridget Conley, providing project management, as well as creative and strategic guidance from idea through launch.

Press & Publicity Opportunities

“Your Voice, Amplified: Why Podcasting Might Be Your Nonprofit’s Secret Weapon” - Fairlight Advisors

“I like the way the show embraces the gravity of the issues they tackle through in-depth interviews with activists working across the world. And it balances the serious topics with an inspiring message. Host Bridget Conley has a wrap up question she calls “collective dreaming”, which I found a really beautiful way to reorient the conclusion of the episode around possibility and hope.”

FROM THE CLIENT:

Emily is a joy to work with.

She brings incredible positive energy, expertise, and commitment while at the same time it feels like you're working with a friend who cares about the project and is equally committed to accomplishing the goals. Because she's really well-connected, everyone Emily brought to the process was both extremely knowledgeable and enjoyable to work with.

I love the way she drives the process forward with incredible organization and energy but also flexibility when we needed it. The balance of moving the train along but keeping the north star of the process of having a high-quality, entertaining, and compelling end product."
