Emily Shaw
Podcast Executive Producer
I’m Emily Shaw, an award-winning podcast executive producer and audio artist based in San Francisco. I love amplifying stories that can change our world for the better.
Why audio?
The human voice in our ears…it feels personal. It triggers the imagination, expands our capacity for empathy, and helps us feel connected with others across time and space.
I fell in love with interviewing while conducting a rogue oral history project in Vietnam in 2013, and went on to study audio documentary and podcasting at Duke University’s Center for Documentary Studies, Women’s Audio Mission, Writing Pad, UnionDocs, and SoundPath.
My first podcast, Cozy Boat, was an intimate, music-infused podcast about creativity and passion. Since then, I’ve produced a range of interview, narrative, and video podcasts, including Like & Describe: The Official YouTube Trends Podcast (6M views and counting), the Think with Google Podcast (Adweek’s Best Thought Leadership Podcast of 2020), Disrupting Peace (World Peace Foundation), Sunday Scaries Student Edition (Headspace and Spotify), and more.
In my free time, I enjoy recording Bay Area sounds and making audio art for my podcast Candy Ears. Episodes have been recognized as an On Air Fest Official Select, a KCRW Radio Race Honorable Mention, and aired on the BBC Radio 4’s Short Cuts.
